Intel's new anti-Apple ad is just cringe | PC Gamer - castellanosmartrust

Intel's new anti-Apple adver is vindicatory wince

We have high hopes for Intel being headed raised past an engineer. You know, less of the selling nonsense of recent years and more about just getting the hardware right. We've got Alder Lake on the style, which is looking promising, and its first distinct graphics card in a long meter, Alchemist, testament be making an coming into court sometime in the New Year. There's also Sapphire Rapids for the big boys in the server rooms. All good overindulge.

Which makes its latest anti-Apple hang, called "Breaking the Spell: Friendly Experiment", totally the Sir Thomas More sigh-inducing. I mean information technology's righteous worse. And ill-conceived. And well, you can't help speculative why someone more senior didn't footfall in and tell them to blockage being so utterly preposterous.

You can check it outer above, but I'll warn you now, it's not pretty.

The premise is that Intel dupes a bunch of Apple fanboys and fangirls into a presentation of new hardware solitary to reveal that they're actually Intel PCs and laptops that are already available.

This is probably fine in the flip universe where Apple fans didn't know PCs exist or what they look like, but in this universe, the whole thing is just ridiculous.

There's also absolutely nobelium quotatio of the software side of things, either. Which is a pretty big deal to these poor guys and gals under Apple's spell. I mean I'm no fan of Apple, non by a long shot, but even I know that the Orchard apple tree ecosystem is at to the lowest degree a small factor in wherefore its machines are popular.

But also the brand itself, and what people perceive it says about you, is as important to the hard-core fans, ofttimes far more the technology. It sure feels as though this ad is misunderstanding something fundamental to the psychology of brand trueness.

Come on Intel, you're better than this. Attacking Apple in this way does more damage to yourself than it does to Apple. Get back to sorting out the hardware, and leave this nonsense to parody sites.

Alan Dexter

Alan has been writing about Personal computer tech since ahead 3D graphics cards existed, and still vividly recalls having to contend with MS-DOS just now to grow games to load. Atomic number 2 fondly remembers the slayer jazz group of a Matrox Millenium and 3dfx Fetish, and sightedness Lara Croft in 3D for the first time. He's very willing computer hardware has advanced as very much like it has though, and is particularly riant when putt the latest M.2 NVMe SSDs, AMD processors, and laptops through and through their paces. He has a long-lasting Magic: The Gathering obsession but limits this to MTG Arena these days.
